Common Ground

While fire alarm and emergency communications address different kinds of dangers, they share similar objectives.  First and foremost, both are purposed for Life Safety.

Fire is a specific threat that usually has a single point of origin from which it spreads.  Fire alarm systems are designed to manage building evacuations based on this scenario, and in many facilities may incorporate the use of voice audio communications.

Mass Notification and Emergency Communications, on the other hand, may deal with this type of event or entirely different threats and situations.

Once one realizes and acknowledges that building evacuation is not always the best solution in the face of natural disasters, security attacks, chemical spills, or other ... there becomes the challenge and responsibility to deal with these events as correctly, efficiently and expediently as possible.

These situations require different management strategies that take a multi-dimensional approach.  This is where mass notification emergency communication procedures and systems come in.       more  >>
